Classic & Trendy Makeup Tutorials Galore
Hello Loves,
Bright
orange is one of this Spring's hottest trends. Orange cheeks, orange
eyes, and especially orange lips! I personally love love love this
trend. It's gives you a chance to do something out of the box and step
out of your comfort zone. One
of the things I love about this trend is that bright, bold lips can
make you look completely pulled together even if you barely have any
makeup on. We all know that some days it's harder than others to get
ourselves out the door. Bright lips are always the focal point of the
face which often detracts from other areas. So if you're running late or
having a hard time getting into your makeup groove, bold
lip colors can make everything else that you didn't do that day less
noticeable. But- just like colored eyeshadow, bright, bold lips
can be intimidating- especially orange. It can be hard to find a shade
that you're comfortable wearing, but I think I've found the perfect one. If you've read any of my previous blog posts, you probably already know how obsessed I am with this!
This is the Maybelline Colorsensational "Vivids" Lipstick in the color "Vibrant Mandarin."
Ohhh my goodness. This is the perfect- I mean perfect orange lip for
Spring and Summer- especially if wearing bright orange scares you! This
color is neither red nor orange. It is a perfect combination of the two
which I think is amazing. It makes it a little bit more wearable for
everyday rather than just a neon orange lip, but it takes the worry out
of having to find your perfect shade of red. Reds can be very tricky
because you have to match your skins undertone to the undertone in the
lipstick to find a shade that truly flatters you.
Anyway,
I love all Maybelline lipsticks. Their formula is super creamy and the
Vivids collection is unbelievably pigmented. This color doesn't require a
gloss or a liner- it is breathtaking on it's own and I am
just...obsessed.
If
you want to keep up with this year's trends but are afraid of a crazy
melon-color, you should definitely give this a try. The undertones and
shades in this color are flattering to so many different people. I mean
look at me- I'm pale as a ghost and it's still complimentary, and we all
know how beautiful bright colors look on darker skin.
This
color is smooth, creamy, and stays on my lips for a long time. It
doesn't bleed outside of my lip line like other bright lipsticks, and as
I said it's a one-stop-shop. No liner or gloss needed, just another
thing that makes this trend simple and time-efficient.
This
next picture basically describes how I feel about this lip color- love!
Rock this trend comfortably and confidently with this amazing color.
Try it. Own it. Love it. <3
Spring Fling: Pop of Blue
Blue
& aqua eyes are a huge trend this Spring. They've been seen on tons
of high fashion runways and posted all over ads for both drugstore and
high-end makeup brands. Many people are afraid of the blue-eyed fling
(especially blondes who fear looking like Mimi from The Drew Carey
Show). Though colorful eyeshadow can be intimidating it can also be
extremely wearable and fun! This is a quick, affordable and simple way
to spice up your everyday neutral makeup look while still being on trend
for Spring.
Enjoy!

1. Neutral Lid
Because we want out lower lash line to be the focus of this eye look, be sure to keep your lid extremely neutral. I took MAC 'Wedge' on a Sigma E40 fluffy brush and blended it back and forth in my crease from inner corner to outer corner. Next, I applied NYX 'Blame it on Midnight' with an E.L.F. Shadow Brush and pressed it all over my lid. Any neutral colors will work for this step, just something to add a slight color to your eyes.
2. Winged Eyeliner
I took the Maybelline Gel Liner in 'Blackest Black' and and an E.L.F. Small Angled Brush
and created a basic winged liner. You want to make sure when doing your
eyeliner that you're not making the line too thick or too thin- you
want your eyeliner to compliment the color in the lower lash line.
Eyeliner that is too thick will take away from the lower line and
eyeliner that is too thin will make your undereyes look pulled down and
sunken.
Here comes the color! I took the NYX retractable eyeliner in 'Deep Blue' and lined my bottom waterline as well as pushed the eyeliner into my lower lash line. Make sure you have a nice solid line of color on your lower lash line but don't bring it down too far or you'll have too much color to work with and nowhere for it to go. Next, take a pencil brush and work the color back and forth on the lower lash line to smoke it out. This step may take a little bit of time to blend out, but keep going and it will end up looking blown out and beautiful!
4. The Final Touch
The last thing you'll need to do is add a few coats of your favorite mascara and this look is complete! I recommend a light coat of mascara on the bottom lashes to make them stand out slightly against the blue liner, but not so much as to override the color itself. You could definitely add false lashes to this look to make it even more dramatic, but I find that this is an extremely simple way to stay trendy.
This
look is both day and nighttime appropriate. It works for just about
everything from going to work to going out with your girlfriends. Dress
it up, dress it down. Experiment, have fun & rock the runway look
every day :)
The Classic Bombshell Smokey Eye
Ever
wonder how to get a gorgeous smokey eye that's both day and nighttime
appropriate? It's easier than you think. For a full in-depth tutorial,

For a step-by-step guide to a flawless smokey eye every time:
1. Prime Time
Make
sure you prime your eyelids for this look with both an eyeshadow primer
(Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Benefit Stay Don't Stray, etc.) and a
light cream base (MAC Paint Pot, Maybelline Color Tattoo, etc.). Because
of the dark shadows used in this look, you don't want ANY fallout; even
a concealer base will work under these shadows!
2. Get Deep & Dark
Taking
a dark brown eyeshadow (L'Oreal Single- Deep Mocha) and a small shader
brush, press the shadow onto the lower half of your lid, concentrating
on the lower half closest to your lash line. Slowly start to blend the
shadow up onto the rest of your lid as to make sure there are no harsh
lines, but try to keep the intensity of the shadow on the lower half of
the lid.
3. Concentrate on the Crease
Taking
a neutral brown color (NYX 'Blame it on Midnight', MAC 'Soft Brown')
and a large fluffy brush, work the color back and forth from inner
corner to outer corner in your crease until everything is blended out.
4. Add Depth
With
a flat shader brush take a deep bronze eyeshadow with flecks of red
(MAC 'Antiqued' or Too Faced 'Lovey Dovey') and place it all over the
lid making sure to cover everything from inner corner to outer corner,
lash line to crease and STOP. Make sure not to go above the crease with
this shade.
5. Blend
Taking
a deeper brown shade with heavy hints of red (Makeup Geek 'Cocoa Bear')
and a fluffy blending brush, blend this shade between your lid shade
and your crease shade. Blend from corner to corner, giving your eyes a
more rounded shape for our bombshell look. Take your time with this step
to make sure everything is completely blended out here before moving
on.
6. Drop the Bomb(shell)
Use
a black coal liner (L'Oreal Linear Intense) and smudge it along the
upper lash line. This does not have to be perfect, but make sure to keep
it as close to the lash line as possible so that the intensity of this
look remains on the lower half of your lid.
7. Blackout
With
a black eyeshadow (Wet N Wild 'Panther') and a small shader brush,
smudge the shadow on top of the coal liner and begin to slowly buff it
upwards onto the lid, stopping about halfway between the lash line and
the crease. This step is what is going to make the look stand out the
most and add the deep smokey effect to your bombshell eyes!
8. Don't Forget Downstairs
Remember,
the point of a "bombshell" look is to give your eyes a very rounded,
smokey look. In order to achieve this completely, don't forget to blow
out your lower lashes as well- bringing the look full-circle and truly
rounding out the eyes. A simple way to blow out the lower lash line is
to take one of the darkest colors used on the lid and push it into your
lower lash line using a pencil brush- blend back and forth until the
bottom lash line is blown out.
Additional Steps:
With
such a dark look, there isn't much need for eyeliner; chances are, you
won't be able to see it anyway. However, if you feel that it completes
the look, go for it! Also, false lashes are a great way to bring this
eye look home. Even the most natural-looking falsies will add a great
amount of volume and length so that your lashes aren't being swallowed
by the smokey eye.
This look is both daytime and nighttime appropriate and is incredibly easy to accomplish! Enjoy!
